Rune Eihwaz

Since the airing of the Viking type shows we have seen a flooding of Norse related things. For the most part it is people reclaiming their heritage, which is a great thing, but on the downside you see a bunch of confusion. Which was the same as what happened to the Craft as Witch-type shows came to the forefront.
I see many reading and making Runes that really do not understand them. For example, did you know that Runes were not always used for divination purposes? Did you know there is a certain way to work with them? Did you know that they existed before Odin?
Eihwaz is one of those Runes that we have to be careful with. It is a power symbol, and one that can uncover mysteries. It symbolizes the Yew tree (Yggdrasil tree) and it is the pillar of life. It is a union of two different forces, life and death. Which is a great Rune for this astrological energy we’re in. The Yew tree has one of the longest life spans and it an evergreen, but this wise tree is poisonous.

Eihwaz is the 13th Rune in the Elder Futhark Runes, and it is many times seen as the “Death Rune”. So we are seeing that there is life after death, or death in life, but is that incarnation granted?

This is a Rune of initiation, as it can represent a ceremonial resurrection that was the final initiation into the mysteries. The initiate is taken to the brink of death, at which he journeyed to the Otherworld, many of you may have heard this called the Shamanic death.

At the Winter Solstice/Yule or whatever you celebrate, have you been able to take the descent, as the Goddess did? Thr Goddess teaches us the mystery that there is death in life, as well as life in death. The placement of Jupiter and Saturn is really playing on the energy as well.

So as we get to the rebirth of the Sun God, what is it going to bring You? Will there be that union of the two and bring creation – have you been the magician of your life? Or….did you missed this opportunity to transcend and remained on the path of the Fool?

Change is upon us, there is definately a new energy/ a new path before us.

May you be blessed,

Sirona Rose

Happy Woden’s day! Thought I would pull a Rune in honor of today. What a gift to pull this Rune for today.

Germanic name – ANSUZ
Anglo-Saxon Name – OS
Old Norse name – ASS
Phonetic value – A
Traditional meaning – a God

4th Rune of the Futhark Runes
Represents order – the defenders in Norse mythology are the Aesir
It represents consciousness, intelligence, communication, and reason.
This is the Odin Rune (Order) and its element is AIR. Air is essential to all life forms and without air, we do not have sound. Air is a medium through which we have communication. Air, or wind, is how seeds are spread through the Earth helping to fertilize the land.
The Gift of Odin is ‘vital breath’.
Air (mental) and wind (chaos) are both a part of us. Odin, with both of these residing inside of him, is a physical expression of chaos controlled and directed.

This Rune is a great reminder for this time that we are in. We all may be feeling some sort of anxiety or stress within us that stirs up the energy of chaos. We must become conscious of our Self so we can channel this chaos into something constructive. Allow it to stir the winds in the mind, to stir up ideas within our minds to allow us to create, to focus the energy.
Learn to be the calm in the center of the storm.
Blessings 🦉

Rune of the week 9/5 – 9/11/2019

MANNAZ

This is the Rune of the Self. Its essence is water so being fluid, being willing to change and adapt, and in touch with your emotions is highlighted. It is a time for you to be devoted to your Self so you can have clarity and clear direction of where you want to go in your life. It represents a time of tremendous growth and a time to be receptive. It is very important to be moderate in this energy, nothing in excess – a balance of the SELF.

It is a time when you allow yourself to be in the stillness of the NOW so you can truly discover your personal song – your gift to give to the world.

The words over the The Temple of Delphi, the second phrase is Nothing in Excess and the first phrase is To Thine Own Self be True.

Many blessings,

Sirona Rose
